New Year's Biking Resolutions

The usual New Year's resolutions apply. Ride more, lose weight, don't crash, etc. But I'd like to make some specific goals.

Look good on a bike: No more scrawny arms and thick legs. I'm going to lift weights, stretch, and have a physique that doesn't look entirely awkward in the tight clothes. I wanna make it so that my shoulders aren't the things that give out first on a long ride.

Ride shorter, faster, and more often: AABTS and Stark County tend to reward total miles, but there should be a prize for riding 100 miles in 5 hours instead of 8. Now that I have bikejournal.com and the Garmin device, I can track all sorts of neat stats like total elevation gain and miles per hour per temperature degree. I can also do a wider range of activities if I don't limit myself to club miles all the time.

Uninterrupted riding: 2003 - ankle surgery, 2004 - illness, 2005 - premature birth of twins, 2006 - broken toe, 2007 - ankle surgery and moving to Ohio. Every year I get something that kills about a month of good riding. This year, I want to ride the whole year without having to take a month off for something. Also, I just got a trainer, so I've got no excuses not to get on a bike and pedal for a while.

Drop certain people: I want to leave a few certain riders in the dust - just because it would make me feel good to do it.
